Wendi's Web - HTML: Document Object Model

Read the tutorial and try the exercises. Make sure you understand the following terms and concepts:

• DOM = Document Object Model
  • what is it, what we use it for where does it come from?
  • DOM Tree, DOM Inspector (right-click part of a page > Inspect)
• Nodes, what they are, how to identify:
  • root node or document node
  • element nodes
  • attribute nodes
  • text nodes
• Node relationships:
  • parent, child, first child, last child
  • sibling (next sibling, previous sibling)

You should be able to take a basic web site and draw it’s DOM tree
